There are many ways to improve ones search engine optimization campaign. Out of the myriad of the ways, article marketing is perhaps one of the best ways. It has a compounding factor that works even when you are not at the computer. And one article can bring in many backlinks for your website.

What is article marketing? Article marketing is simply writing articles about information related to your website and submitting them to various article directories around the web. By adding links back to your website in the resource box, you can add valuable backlinks to your website. You'd also want to make your articles 'keyword-rich', so readers can more easily find them and search engines can pick them up more easily.

Articles also make good pre-sell tools for your website. Readers reading your article are looking for specific information, and you provide them with more information by asking them to click through to your link to find out more. Articles generally act as good teasers for more deeper information that you can provide to your readers. Be sure to provide good information in your article, and your readers will feel compelled to visit your site.

However, thats not where the good stuff ends! Ezine owners will also grab your articles and publish them to their newsletter. This gives you even more backlinks without any additional work.

As you can see, submitting articles is a great no-cost way to get free, quality backlinks and generate lots of traffic to your website. If you haven't started article marketing, start doing so today!

One of the hidden secrets to excel in article marketing is carefully choosing your keywords. Pick the ones that are constantly being used by your target market when they searched for information online. By using the right keywords or search terms, your articles will become highly searchable and you will increase their chances of being opened, read, and hopefully republished.

Here are the other hidden secrets to excel at article marketing:

1. Observe appropriate keyword density. Publishers are now very strict about keyword abuse. They immediately reject articles that contain so many keywords that don't sound natural on the content. Stick with 3% keyword density to stay on the safe side and to increase the chances of your articles being republished on leading submission sites like ezinearticles dot com and goarticles dot com.

2. Hire some help. Manually submitting your articles to hundreds of publishing sites can take so much of your writing time. This can affect your productivity which is not good in your marketing strategies. Hire somebody who can post the articles for you. Although you will need to shell out some money for this, you can buy yourself more time doing what you do best - writing.

3. Stick to the facts. Never overstretch the truth or insert unfounded information on your content to avoid misleading your readers. Before you publish your articles, be sure to double check your content as factual errors can easily tarnish your online credibility.

4. Never advertise on your articles. Don't convert your articles to sales letters and focus on giving your readers what they truly want - information. This is the surest way to move them to click on your resource box where you can post your sales pitches.

Article marketing might seem hard when you first think about it, but once you have written and submitted a number of articles, it does get easier. Follow these simple steps to help you get started, quickly and easily.

1) Narrow down your web site topics and perhaps make a list of them. When you are trying to write articles, sometimes it is easy to feel like you do not have anything to write about. One easy way to counteract that is to write a list of 10-20 things that you can write about main topics. Then, write a list of questions that can be asked about your topic. Once you have those lists, you now have a large number of mini-topics you can use to write articles about. Just answer each one of the topics in an article you should never run out of fresh ideas using this method!

2) Write the article. Use a structure similar to this one for your first few articles. Just write out a few main points that can answer the article questions. Then for your introductory paragraph, write an introductory sentence and then summarize the main points. For your conclusion, the same idea holds just summarize everything, and perhaps give an action point something your reader can do that will be helpful to him.

3) Add your link to your web page to the end of the article. Offer an incentive, such as a free ebook, to get them to visit your web site.

4) Go to a search engine and find a list of article directories that are accepting submissions.

5) Submit your articles to the article directories.

Although that list is quite brief and short, if you literally do each of the things in those steps, you are well on the road to article marketing.

Choosing the right keywords can dramatically increase your Web site traffic. How do you know if youve picked the right ones? These three steps will help you make the right decision when it comes to selecting keywords for your site.

1. Think like your user.
2. Do your research.
3. Be specific.

When you start coming up with possible keywords, the first thing you need to do is narrow down what your Web site is about. Lets say Im creating a Web site about my favorite car, the Porsche 356 Speedster. It makes sense that my first keyword phrase would be Porsche 356 Speedster.

But lets think about this from a users perspective. What other words might someone use to find my site? How about sports car, convertible, or collector car?

If your Web site is about a specific industry, avoid using jargon. Instead, choose words that your customers would use to describe your product or service. You have to think like your user.

Next, you want to do some research. Take the keywords youve come up with and run them through a keyword tool, like the one from Yahoo! Search Marketing. There you will see how popular that phrase is as well as possible suggestions for similar words.

If you have Web analytics in place, check your keyword analysis and see what words are already driving traffic to your site. If you dont have Web analytics, get them. They can tell you a lot about your site and your users.

Also, research the words your competitors are using. Type your chosen keyword into Google and view the source on the page to see what other keywords the top ranking pages are using.

Finally, once youve come up with a list of keywords, make sure they are descriptive and specific. While car is a popular keyword, its too broad. I would need to qualify it with the type of car my site is about, like German car. Even then, I would be competing with Volkswagen and Audi.

The more relevant the keyword, the more qualified traffic you will receive. So pick your keywords with care. Its not an exact science. Its a combination of analysis, experimentation and good old common sense. It is important, though, so spend the time and energy it takes to get it right.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) article writing and submission techniques are creating millionaires every day. When you understand the methodology necessary to gain first-page natural rankings on the major search engines without pay-per-click advertising campaigns, then you are in a position to advance your operations to a point of ecstatic, self-duplicating bliss. The time spent practicing and perfecting these techniques will be well-traded. There will be no regrets when you consistently see your product or service listed on top of your competition's, especially when you know that you didn't spend a penny! Sound too good to be true? Read on...

NEWSFLASH! You don't have to be a great writer to create, submit and benefit from niche-specific articles. OK, you can't get by with absolutely no skills either. However, the good news is that skills can be learned. There are a lot of similarities presented by the words "learn" and "earn" besides their respective spellings. You can learn to write, but it will cost you some effort and time. At first, it will probably be very frustrating. There really isn't much in life worth learning that doesn't seem that way from time to time. Persevere! Dedicate yourself to a goal. Keep directing your energy even when - no, especially when - it seems to be going nowhere. That's how you get good.

There are many different, yet correct ways to become an effective writer. Here are some surefire steps to take. These actions will lead you quickly down the roads to writing confidence and efficiency.

If you want to become a writer, then READ! Read everything that you see. Read street signs and highway mileposts. Read the tag stuck to the bottom of your chair. Let there be nothing that passes in front of your eyes with written words that does not get read. By doing so, you begin to incorporate a writer's mentality in your own headspace. Just start reading.

If you want to become a writer, then WRITE! It doesn't develop through reading alone. You can't wish your skills to increase magically with any degree of realistic expectation. Like a student of Yoga attempting a new and challenging asana, you will not get it right the first time - or the second - or the third. You will unknowingly be improving. Through repetition and diligence, you will gain ground. You will identify your strengths and weaknesses. You will become a writer.

You need to learn to write in the same manner that you speak to your friends. Imagine that you are addressing your best friend when you are writing. In most cases, this will produce easy-reading, smooth-flowing informative masterpieces of modern communication. Your readers will eat it up!

Take the time to carefully read every single article that you ever assign your name to. Computers do not forget things well. Establish your online reputation with quality and forethought. Proofread, edit and pamper your documents. Make sure that you don't publish spelling, grammar and/or sentence structure errors.

Inform and semi-entertain your readers. Don't bore them, but don't waste their time trying to over-entertain them. Make your argument. Solidify your presentation. Don't bounce around between topics. Your article should read like an organized, informative vehicle of clear communication.

Do not use the word "I". Other words to avoid include "thing(s)", "ain't", "gonna" and the like. You need to give thought to each and every word that you present. The overall effect of polished professionalism will not be reached otherwise. That's what polished means.

Don't try to be fancy, but don't come off as too common. Talk like you would to your best friend provided that he isn't mentally challenged.

There are certainly a lot of lessons of writing that are not presented here. What is here though is more than enough to project a novice onto an intermediate plane of prose. Take your time and give your time. Take it learning. Give it freely. As with every challenge in life, writing skills can be developed with continued effort. Realize the potential for business. Read. Write. Hone your art. Form perfection. Thought given and time passing will yield your increased scribing power.
